Dear Resident,

We are writing because we are developing proposals to improve the existing community facility at Dale Road Park, and we would like to hear from local residents before the plans are finalised.

The Dale Road Park Sports and Community Hub CIC is a community organisation working to improve facilities and opportunities for local people within Dale Road Park. We are currently considering an extension to the existing building to provide improved facilities for the community.

We recognise that the park is important to local residents and that previous proposals for development on the park have generated concerns.

We don’t want to assume that everyone will support our proposal simply because we believe it will benefit the community.

Instead, we want to understand your views, listen to your concerns and, wherever reasonably possible, use your feedback to improve the proposal.

What are we proposing?

The proposal would extend the existing building to provide:

• A community space
• A new café 
• Modern changing facilities

The project would support members of the local community and sports teams that use Dale Road Park.

We are proposing an extension to the existing facility rather than a separate new building.

Why is the project needed?

The existing facility currently has limitations including:

• There is no community space within the building
• The current changing facilities do not meet the latest safeguarding standards

Protecting the park

We understand that any development within a public park needs to be carefully considered.

We are therefore particularly interested in your views about:

• The size and appearance of the extension.
• Green space.
• Trees and landscaping.
• Biodiversity.
• Parking and traffic.
• Noise and hours of use.
• Lighting.
• Construction.
• Future use/development.

We would also like to know whether there are improvements to the park that you think could be incorporated into the project.
